Altered Carbon is an American cyberpunk television series created by Laeta Kalogridis and based on the 2002 novel of the same title by English author Richard K. Morgan. In a world where consciousness can be transferred to different bodies, Takeshi Kovacs, a former soldier turned investigator, is released from prison in order to solve a murder. The first season consists of ten episodes and premiered on Netflix on February 2, 2018. On July 27, 2018, the series was renewed for a second season of eight episodes,which was released on February 27, 2020, with an anime film set before the first season released on March 19, 2020. Though the series received generally positive reviews, it was canceled after two seasons.

In my reality there is no real death. One year after you are born, you get a crystal implant in your neck that stores all your experiences and memories. When your body gets too damaged or too old you simply can buy a new one. In this respect the rich can live forever and the poor can only lead one or two lives at most.
When I joined the rebels, I found my one true love Quellcrist Falconer! She trained me and taught me all the lessons that I needed to learn to fight the satanic forces in my reality! She taught me that the strongest weapon you have is your own body!
In my reality if you murder someone without destroying their implant it is not considered murder! Only if you destroy their crystal implant is it labelled a real murder or a real death!

The Protectorate fought our rebellion for years without success! Until one of our own betrayed us! Our forces were decimated, and history was rewritten to portray us as terrorists! I was killed defending my brothers and sisters and my one true love got killed for real! Her implant was destroyed! So, I gave up all hope. After 250 years I was activated again in a new body to solve a murder, and this is where my story in your universe begins.

The first season of "Altered Carbon" starts with the "resleeving" of a convicted criminal named Takeshi Kovacs into a new body. This body has been artificially created with certain genetic upgrades. Takeshi Kovacs used to be in an asian body and was part of a rebellious group led by Quellcrist Falconer. Quellcrist Falconer taught her students that the current order of the "Protectorate" was malicious and downright rotten. While the rich can live forever by buying expensive new "sleeves" or new bodies, the poor can only live one or two lives at the most. The technology behind this is a crystal that is implanted one year after you are born into your neck. This crystal stores all the memories and experiences you ever had in your life. Once you die and have the necessary credits or money you can buy a new sleeve and live a new life in a new upgraded body. While the grand majority of the people cannot afford a new sleeve, the so called "billionares" and "Elites" can live in theory forever by always buying new sleeves or newly created bodies.
This resleeving method is a type of artificial reincarnation where the consciousness or the "soul" of the person is digitally transferred to a newly created body. In this way you can keep learning and experiencing new things in theory forever.
Takeshi Kovacs joined Quellcrist Falconers rebellious group and was defeated by elite soldiers, the so called "Praetorians" of the Protectorate. His "cortical stack" or "Digital Human Freight" is put on ice for 250 years when he finally wakes up in a prison in San Francisco. The only reason he was activated again was to solve a murder case. The murder of one of the "Meths", the so called billionares that live forever.
I personally had many synchroncities while watching this series! I learned a lot about scifi technology and consciousness while watching this series. That no matter what technology is developed it will always be corrupted by the so called "Elites" and used against the people.
I could also identify with Takeshi Kovacs because he had a sister that was very much like my sister in real life. In the series Takeshi's sister becomes one of the "Meths" and says that she will never allow anyone to stop her from living her eternal life in luxory. She even betrays Takeshi without him knowing about it.
The future depicted in "Altered Carbon" is dark, sinister, full of perversions and you literary think that every woman in the series is a whore. You rarely see any "normal" family in the series. Even the so called "Preatorians" are brainwashed to believe that they are fighting for a good cause, where they are only the soldiers of the so called "Elites" to suppress any type of uprising or rebellion!
One of the most interesting side characters in the series is the AI hologram "Poe" who runs an AI hotel. He becomes Takeshi's companion and saves his life multiple times.
What I love about the series is that Takeshi Kovacs is actually depressed and hopeless, because he believes from the very beginning that his true love Quellcrist Falconer has been really killed, because her cortical stack has been destroyed. He finds no purpose in life, why keep fighting? If your true love is no longer with you? Quellcrist Falconer of course is revived in the course of the series, and the struggle continues to end the reign of the wicked "Elites".
While watching the series, I had many synchronicities and episodes. I knew that the technology that is shown in the series is more than possible. And that this story is most likely a real story from a parallel universe or parallel dimension where again, there are people who know the truth and fight the tyrants. But you have to have a reason to fight! And if you do not have a reason to fight, then you can put yourself one ice for ever (this means your cortical stack is simply inactive and in storage forever). And some men actually love to be activated just to fight for the sick "Elites". They consider it an honor just to be reactived to do the dirty work of the Meths who rule in that universe.
I've had numerous episodes, where in our universe during the global change or global turning, when Jesus Christ returns, we will get new bodies, or upgraded bodies (in the Bible it is stated that you will get a new body), and in the series they even 3D print entire new bodies and created better bodies with every cycle.
One of my favorite characters next to Takeshi Kovacs and Quellcrist Falconer is Kristin Ortega, played by Martha Higareda. She is a female police officer in charge of getting Tekeshi Kovacs out of prison and into the mansion of Laurens Bancroft.
I believe "Altered Carbon" shows us many truths! About our world as well! It is though a very dark series with a lot of action in it, and it could be potentially a real story from a parallel universe! One thing that I learned is that the evil forces who rule our world today will never ever change their ways! They will never repent their sins and will keep torturing and raping children to death! Satan will never change! That is why we cannot be "diplomatic" with these evil bastards that rule or world today. We have to completely annihilate them! This will happen when Jesus Christ returns! He has the power to destroy souls, the so called second death in the Bible. All those that can truly repent or change for the better will be given a chance to change their ways such that they can be saved as well. Most souls on Earth will go to purgatory after Judgment Day! Only a minority will be sent to Hell! Those vile creatures that have been responsible for heinous crimes against creation since the dawn of time will not be forgiven or saved!
In the series there exists also a digital world, comparable to the movie the Matrix. Once your consciousness is transferred to this digital world, anything can happen, from good to horrible things! In one part Takeshi Kovacs is digitally tortured to death over and over again in a digital prison! And the scientists and technicians who do this, find it amusing somehow, like this is what they do for a living and keep doing this to people over and over again! Anyhow Quellcrist knew of these torturing techniques and trained Takeshi Kovacs to endure the most severe torture known to man, and taught him even how to break out of any digital prison using his mind to do it! It is also a very powerful message: the mind is more powerful than any prison or simply put mind over matter, or mind over digital prisons!
You can watch the first two seasons of "Altered Carbon" on Netflix! Sadly the series got cancelled after two seasons!
