At the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba, Private William Santiago, a United States Marine, is tied up and beaten in the middle of the night. After he is found dead, Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private First Class Louden Downey are accused of his murder and face a court-martial. Their defense is assigned to United States Navy JAG Corps Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee, a callow lawyer with a penchant for plea bargains.
Another JAG attorney, Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway, Kaffee's superior, suspects something is amiss. Santiago died after he broke the chain of command to ask to be transferred away. Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Markinson advocated for Santiago to be transferred, but Base Commander Colonel Nathan Jessep ordered Santiago's platoon commander, Lieutenant Jonathan James Kendrick, to "train" Santiago on the basis they are all at fault for Santiago's substandard performance.
Galloway suspects that Dawson and Downey carried out a "code red" order: a violent extrajudicial punishment. Galloway is bothered by Kaffee's blasΓ© approach, and Kaffee resents Galloway's interference.
Kaffee and Galloway question Jessep and others at Guantanamo Bay and are met with contempt from the colonel. When Kaffee negotiates a plea bargain with the prosecutor, US Marine Judge Advocate Captain Jack Ross, Dawson and Downey refuse, insisting that Kendrick gave them the "code red" order, that they never intended to kill Santiago, and that it would be dishonorable to pursue a plea bargain.

The most epic scene of the entire movie! ✨πΊπΈ⚔️✝️⚔️πΊπΈ✨
Lieutenant Kaffee (Tom Cruise) questions Colonel Jessep (Jack Nicholson) if he ordered the code red!
Lieutenant Kaffee (Tom Cruise): "I want the truth!"
Colonel Jessep (Jack Nicholson): "You can't handle the truth!"
In my opinion the whole world can handle the truth! It is just how you present the truth that makes it understandable for the common man or not! My Review: ✨πΊπΈ⚔️✝️⚔️πΊπΈ✨
I just finished watching the movie "A Few Good Men" and I must say, although I watched it decades ago, watching it again with a mature mind and with more legal and ethical knowledge, that it is a great movie on legal affairs in the U.S. Military! It is an amazing movie that really makes you think!
During the entire movie you really start thinking who is to blame for the death of the marine William Santiago? Is the commander of Guantanamo Bay Colonel Jessep that ordered a "code red"? Is it the marines Lance Corporal Dawson and Private First Class Downey that executed the code red? A code red is a non lethal and non bodily harmful punishment that is executed by other marines to punish a recruit that did something wrong! You also find out that the military doctor Commander Doctor Stone did not really do his duties well by stating that the marine that died was fit for duty. The marine that died most likely had a heart condition and was not fit for service! So in this context the military doctor is also culpable of the death of William Santiago.
The two marines that got ordered to punish William Santiago did not want to kill him! But they did kill him. This would mean that in front of a military court they would be guilty of involuntary manslaughter! But since Colonel Jessep ordered the code red knowing fully well that Santiago was not fit for service (he was aware of his ailments) his culpability is actually higher than from the two marines that executed the non lethal punishment that resulted in Santiago's death!
From the very beginning you wonder if the two marines will go to jail for life! And Lieutenant Kaffee (Tom Cruise) begs both of them to take the offer of the military U.S. prosecutor Captain Jack Ross played by Kevin Bacon, but they refuse! Lieutenant Kaffee tells them if they plead guilty for involuntary manslaughter they would only have to serve 6 months in jail and they would be free! But they refuse to take the offer!
So the movie is very suspenseful and keeps you wondering wheter they are guilty or not! They are facing 20 years to lifetime in prison!
If you want to watch a great and very informative movie then I suggest you watch "A Few Good Men!
A Few Good Men is based on a real story! ✨πΊπΈ⚔️✝️⚔️πΊπΈ✨
The dead marine in "A Few Good Men" is William Santiago, who is based on the real-life William Alvarado. In the film, Santiago dies from a hazing ritual known as a "code red," but in reality, Alvarado survived his injuries and made a full recovery.
Cox's first overseas assignment was at the Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Here, he was a part of Rifle Security Company, Windward Side, 2nd Platoon along with twenty-nine other Marines, overseen by Squad leader Christopher Lee Valdez. Cox was assigned as a guard along the perimeter, separating the base from the country of Cuba. According to Cox, he belonged to an unofficial group of Marines known as "The Ten", who joined this group by performing exhausting physical challenges, such as running with full gear in 110 degree F (43 degree C) heat and hanging from a sixty-foot (18-meter) tower, by hand, for sixty seconds.
While stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Private First Class (PFC) William Alvarado wrote letters to a Texas Congressman complaining of poor conditions and illegal activities on the base, including Marines firing shots across the fence line into Cuba. PFC Alvarado also requested a transfer off the base. This information reached commanding officer Colonel Samuel Adams who elected not to transfer Alvarado, despite concerns that the Marine's violation of the chain of command may put him in danger. In September 1986, "The Ten" allegedly were encouraged to punish Alvarado for what was viewed as dishonorable conduct. One night, "The Ten" chose to perform a "code red". A "code red" is how they refer to hazing a Marine and is strictly against Marine Corps policy.
At 1:30 a.m. on a Sunday, "The Ten" entered Alvarado's barracks room. They restrained a sleeping Alvarado, binding him with tape and stuffing a pillow case into his mouth as a gag. Alvarado was blindfolded and assaulted while being dragged out of his room. Cox produced a hair buzzer, and the plan was to shave Alvarado bald, as punishment. However, something went wrong and Alvarado began choking. His lungs filled with fluid, he spat up blood and began turning purple, as he lost consciousness. The "code red" was immediately stopped, and the Marines called for help. Alvarado was taken to the infirmary before being transferred to a hospital in Miami, Florida, where he went on to make a full recovery. Following the incident, "The Ten" admitted guilt and were arrested immediately.

My Conversation about Human Courts and Divine Courts: ✨πΊπΈ⚔️✝️⚔️πΊπΈ✨
In real life most people that are wronged in our societies worldwide and decide to go to court nearly always lose! My own mother went to court multiple times in her life and she always lost, only once did we have a reliable agreement with a seller of our house in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina! Most people cannot afford a lawyer, and those that can afford a lawyer tend to lose against other lawyers who are more experienced and are higher paid! This means that in real life true legal justice nearly never prevails! This is the sad truth! True criminals who do the worst type of crimes, if they have the right lawyer tend to walk free! And even innocent men and innocent women get convicted for crimes that they did not commit! Only in Hollywood movies and series do we see that the true culprits get thrown behind bars! Only rarely do we see the reality of our legal system in movies and series! Like in the superhero series "The Flash". So I started a conversation with the GROK AI online about the culpability of the different characters in the movie "A Few Good Men" and the conversation I had was really informative and good! The AI responded that Colonel Jessep was the "mastermind" behind the code red and hence he deserves a heavier punishment than the two marines that executed the code red. But the AI also says that the doctor was culpable because he declared William Santiago to be fit for service whereas he was not! The doctor was negligent in his duties and endangered the life of Santiago that resulted in his death! In real life the military doctor Commander Doctor Stone would lose his license and be discharged from the army! In the worst case he would also go to jail for life endangerment and involuntary manslaughter! So this movie is really challenging for your mind and thoughts! Who is really guilty? If you want to read my conversation I had with the Grok AI about this subject then click the link below!
My conversation with the Grok AI 3.0 (beta) about the movie "A Few Good Men":
My conversation about Human Justice and Divine Justice with the Grok AI 3.0
Me and the Grok AI came to the conclusion that all characters are redeemable in the movie and or story! Even the wicked Colonel Jessep can be redeemed if he truly repents his sins and asks for forgiveness for his crimes! We came to the conclusion that nearly all sinners are redeemable! Only those truly wicked souls that as an example would rape children to death over and over again without ever changing their ways would go to Hell! All other souls that can change for the better and have committed various sins and or wicked deeds that truly repent their evil deeds and sins (for God or Jesus Christ truly sees into a man's heart) will go to Purgatory to be purified from their sins and or evil deeds! So the grand majority of souls will most likely end up in Purgatory! Only a minority of truly wicked souls that will never change their ways will end up in Hell with Satan!
