Equilibrium is a 2002 American science fiction film written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, and starring Christian Bale, Emily Watson, and Taye Diggs. The film follows Bale as John Preston, an enforcement officer in a future in which feelings and artistic expression are outlawed, and a society where its citizens are forced to take psychoactive drugs to suppress emotion. After accidentally missing a dose, Preston awakens and begins to uncover the suspicious inner workings of the regime governing the totalitarian state.

Plot: ✨⚔️💠✝️💠⚔️✨

Established by survivors of World War III, the totalitarian city-state of Libria blames human emotion as the root of all conflicts. It strictly outlaws all activities or objects that stimulate emotion, with violators labeled Sense Offenders and sentenced to death. The population has to take a daily injection of the emotion-suppressing drug called Prozium II. Libria is governed by the Tetragrammaton Council, led by "Father", who communicates propaganda through giant video screens. The police force is led by the Grammaton Clerics, elite fighters trained in the art of gun kata. Clerics frequently raid homes to search for and destroy illegal materials – art, literature and music – executing violators on the spot. A resistance movement, known as the "Underground", emerges to topple Father and the Tetragrammaton Council.

My Review: ✨⚔️💠✝️💠⚔️✨

Shortly after waking up to the truth in 2007 when I moved out of the apartment of my mother and moved to my own place in Berlin, Moabit, Germany I watched the movie "Equilibrium" while lying on my white and comfortable sofa. I did not know what to expect of the movie but it somehow reminded me of the movie "The Matrix"! The movie is about a potential dystopian future after World War 3 where a new system has been installed to stop the wars once and for all. The new system or form of governance is that all emotions are suppressed by a special type of drug called "Prozium III". This reminds me today a bit of the drug Soma in the series Brave New World. In the movie Equilibrium all forms of art and anything that could evoke a human reaction is forbidden by law! And anybody who has any illegal emotion is put to death! This happened to the wife of the main character of this story named John Preston (Christian Bale)! John Preston is part of an elite police force named "The Clerics" who are experts in all aspects of combat and have even psychic abilities that lets them anticipate what is going to happen and in thie sense have supernatural abilities.

Outside of this gated and guarded "Utopia" there are the normal civilians that try to fight this New World Order. And the Clerics are used to find and kill any insurgents or revolutionaries! The Clerics also tell the regular police forces what goes against the law and order them what to destroy or not to destroy. Any type of artform that could evoke a emotional reaction is deemed heretic and is destroyed in this dark potential dystopian future! In one scene they even destroy the Mona Lisa because it evokes an emotional reaction!

When the partner of John Preston Errol Partridge ist sentenced to death because he kept a small book full of poems for himself John decides to no longer take the emotional suppressing drug and slowly starts feeling again emotions!

John Preston then allies himself with the revolutionaries and starts fighting the Tetragrammaton Council (the governing body of Libria). John Preston is one of the best Clerics and keeps fighting to the very end. After all he was forced to observe the burning of his own wife and was not allowed to have any emotional feeling about this!

The movie Equilibrium is a really well produced movie full of action scenes and martial arts fighting combined with scifi elements and interesting thoughts! I had many synchronicities while watching this movie and according to my metaphysical experiences the movie is an approximation of a real story in the pan-multiversal continuum!
